What is PES 2015

Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 is a soccer simulation game that’s published by Konami and rivals EA’s FIFA.

After an absence, Pro Evolution Soccer returns with PES 2015. This game goes by a number of different names depending on region, including World Soccer: Winning Eleven 2015. Unlike past versions of PES for Windows, PES 2015 is in line with the console versions. That means that you’re getting the latest rosters as well as modern graphics and animations.

Some fans complained that PES was moving toward the FIFA model due to EA’s success. This alienated PES fans and didn’t seem to be winning over the FIFA crowd. With PES 2015 the developers seek to get back to the roots that made Pro Evolution Soccer such an iconic PS2 title.

The gameplay is as good as it’s ever been in the PES series. It also avoids the pacing issues that creeped into FIFA with a focus on the technical aspects of the game. There’s a nice balance here, which many gamers will prefer. The physics model has been overhauled. For long-time PES fans the new ball physics are particularly noticeable. The ball just bounces right now. The controls are also responsive and precise, and as you master the game you’ll be able to reproduce actions with consistency.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 isn’t without issues. Despite a nearly comprehensive overhaul the menu seems to be dropped from the last iteration. It’s not a bad menu system, but it does seem outdated now. PES still lacks all the licenses that FIFA has. Another issue is strange animations. The game looks great most of the time, but there are moments were the animations are just inexplicably off.

Pros

  • Realistic gameplay
  • Precise controls

Cons

  • Lacks the licenses FIFA does
  • Strange animations are glaring at times
